Sturdy, Stylish, Smart!

It’s difficult to catch the attention of hundreds of busy students, to make sure they have all the information they need, in time, and accurately. Believe us, we know! We spoke to students from multiple countries as well as building managers to understand everybody’s concerns and then come up with a solution that that has something for everybody.

Presenting Nudge Display, our sturdy, stylish and smart Electronic Paper Display (EPD) messaging platforms. They are a perfect way to send out notices, campus tips, event information etc. This low-energy, highly accessible electronic screen allows quick and easy updates (no more old notices littering floors and filling bins!). It is easily seen across the room but will not be disruptively bright when the lights are off.

Nudge Display comes with multiple in-built sensors that keep track of energy consumption etc. A gentle nudge at the appropriate moment will help climate-conscious students optimise their utility usage, budget-conscious students find timely bargains, fitness enthusiasts keep track of local sports events... the possibilities are endless.

The Mere Exposure Effect

In recent times, governments around the world have begun to incorporate Nudge Theory into their policies. In the field of sustainability and energy management, the US Department of Energy (DOE) acknowledges the critical role of behavioural factors in addressing and successfully curbing a projected 20% escalation in household energy consumption. Nudging interventions have gained remarkable recognition and attention due to their exceptional capacity to foster positive behaviour change in populations. Using what is called the Mere Exposure effect, researchers have noted that people tend to develop a preference for stimuli, messages, or information they are repeatedly exposed to.

Thus a display device strategically placed in student rooms or common areas that regularly offers students messages and reminders about responsible resource usage, using methods such as sharing informative facts, providing practical tips, and offering updates on energy usage etc., encourages students to adopt energy-conscious behaviours, creating a normative environment that values sustainability. This proactive approach empowers students to make environmentally-friendly choices and contribute to significant energy savings within their living environment.
